How To Make A Webpage

Tags:

To make a webpage you have to first understand the different tags that must be used to make a webpage work. First open a coding application. Coding applications such as Textwrangler, Text, TextEdit, and Notepad++ are perfect. The main tags you use are <!DOCTYPE html>, <html>, <head>, <title>, <body>, <h1>, <p>. Each tag will have certain content in it that will eventually show up on you web page. When you open a tag, you just type in the tag name.

For example, the "body" tag:
<body>

Once you complete typing the content in the body tag, you have to close it. To close a tag you must use the slash symbol.

For example, the "body" tag:
<body> Hi, I like waffles! This is a close tag: </body>

So do not forget to close your tags. Make sure thay are always closed.

<!DOCTYPE html>:

Typing <!DOCTYPE html> is a declaration to prove that this is html coding. This must always be included in the coding for your webpage in order to work.

Code should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>

This is the only tag that doesn't get closed.

<html>:

Typing <html> tells the program that the file will be a webpage. It is a root element to the html page. All the content inside <html> will be visible in your webpage.

Coding should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
Content goes here
</html>

This is a very important tag to the webpage because without it there would be many errors and your webpage will not work.

<head>:

Typing <head> will contain all the meta data that will is in the webpage.Meta data includes the language/character set, the description, the author, and more.

The Code should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
Meta Data goes here as: <meta name="" content="">
</head>
</html>

<title>:

Typing <title> will appear as large bolded letters at the top of you screen. It it used to represent the main heading or topic of the webpage. It is included in the <head> section of the coding.

The Code should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
Meta Data goes here as: <meta name="" content="">
<title>
"Your Title"
</title>
</head>
</html>

The title will be the largest text on the webpage unless font size is changed.

<body>:

Typing <body> is all of the visible conent that is in your webpage. A viewer will see everything you write in this section except the actual coding for it.

The Code should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
Meta Data goes here as: <meta name="" content="">
<title>
"Your Title"
</title>
</head>
<body>
Visible content in the body
</body>
</html>

<h1>:

Typing <h1> is in the body section. The body of your webpage has a heading and it will be typed in the <h1> tag.

The Coding should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta name="" content="">
<title>
"Your Title"
</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1> "heading"
</h1>
</body>
</html>

<p>:

Typing <p> is in the body section as well. This tag indicates that there is writting in the webpage. The content in the <p> is what appears in the page. The "p" stands for paragraph.

The Coding should look like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta name="" content="">
<title>
"Your Title"
</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1> "heading"
</h1>
<p>
Content that the viewer sees.
</p> </body>
</html>

And one last thing....

DON'T FORGET TO CLOSE ALL TAGS!!!!!
